Managed IT for Healthcare Practices
Protect patient data and keep the practice running. Prime ITS helps Houston-area clinics and practices with secure, reliable IT and practical support for HIPAA safeguards.

Healthcare practices run on systems that have to be available when patients are in the building: the electronic health record, practice management and billing, imaging, phones, and printers. They also hold some of the most sensitive data any business keeps. Downtime means a waiting room full of patients, and a breach can mean notification costs, investigations, and lost trust.
Prime ITS supports practices that want reliable day-to-day IT without hiring an internal team. We look after workstations, networks, Microsoft 365, backups, and security, and we work with your EHR and other healthcare software vendors instead of replacing them.
What usually goes wrong
- Workstations shared between front desk, clinical, and billing staff.
- EHR and imaging systems that depend on specific browsers, devices, or local servers.
- Ransomware and phishing aimed at healthcare because the data is valuable and downtime is costly.
- Unclear ownership of the network, Wi-Fi, and guest access in the office.
- Missing or untested backups for local systems and files.
- Risk assessments that are overdue or were never completed.
How Prime ITS approaches it
- Manage and patch workstations and servers, and keep an inventory of devices that touch patient data.
- Enforce multi-factor authentication, encrypt laptops, and separate guest Wi-Fi from clinical systems.
- Monitor endpoints with managed detection and response and filter email for phishing.
- Back up local systems and Microsoft 365, and test restores.
- Work with your EHR and billing vendors on updates and problems.
- Provide the technical information you need for your HIPAA risk analysis and policies.

HIPAA and patient data
The HIPAA Security Rule requires covered entities and their business associates to protect electronic protected health information with administrative, physical, and technical safeguards, and to perform a risk analysis. Typical technical safeguards include access control, audit logging, integrity controls, and transmission security.
When an IT provider can access patient data, a business associate agreement (BAA) is generally required. Prime ITS signs a BAA with healthcare clients as part of onboarding. Prime ITS helps you implement and document the technical safeguards; your practice remains responsible for its HIPAA compliance program, and we do not certify compliance.
